After taking a nice little trip down to REI yesterday, I am anxious to start collecting all the gear I will need for our PCT hike. I already have packs and such, but unfortunately the gear I do have is not designed for extensive trips.
My friend R. and I went and browsed around, trying to get a good scope on all the gear that we would need to survive such a long trip.
The main items that we will need are:
- Extended trip packs
- (2) 1-person tents
- (2) 2 degree sleeping bags
- (2) Mats for sleeping bags
- Warm weather clothing
- Cold weather clothing
- Roughly 4 pairs of hiking shoes/boots each
This is just the main essentials, definitely not everything we will be bringing. We are excited to be able to document the whole trip on two GoPro’s that we will be purchasing here in the near future. R. and I have talked about it, and we will each be getting the chest harnesses so that we can be recording as we walk, but then we each will also get the “selfie stick” as everyone has been calling them, that way we can document any important events that may have happened that day. We don’t want you to miss out on our pretty faces!
Still shooting for beginning next April if everything falls into place like we are hoping with school and finances, but if for some reason next April does not work, we will continue training and start the trail the April of 2017.
Tighten up your pack straps folks, time flies when you are having fun, and we look forward to having you all along for our journey leading up to the PCT!
